natation synchronisee

How gorgeous are these photographs by french photographer Jean-Baptise Courtier? I love the juxtaposition of the natural landscape with the discipline of synchronized swimming. What an interesting idea that he executes beautifully.

think pink

I never thought this would happen, but I am going through a pink phase. I am just loving the a pop of this peachy-pink color, so I compiled a little collage of things I want/recommend all in this girly, yet on-trend hue.

1. bkr water bottle // My bottle finally came in the mail and I never thought I would get so excited about a water bottle. Not only do I love this color that they adorably named "kitten," but the  bottle is made of glass, making it chemical-free and recyclable.

2. Antler illustration // This is an illustration and photograph found on etsy that I've been eyeing. The artist also does an array of different flower and animal combination that I think is such a creative idea.

3. Pink coat // I've mentioned before on here, but I have a weakness for coats. I am usually good at saying no, as I honestly have no room for it, but oh am I loving the pink outerwear trend.

4. Soap & Glory flake away // A body scrub is an essential for the colder months in my opinion. I have been using this one once a week in the shower. Not only does it flake away dead skin, but the shea butter and almond oil make my skin nice and soft.

donna tartt

I started reading The Goldfinch a few days ago and now I can't put it down. It's written by one of my favorite authors,  Donna Tartt, and I find her quite inspirational. Back in high school,  my mom told me I should read one of her favorite books, The Little Friend. I loved the book, but I also remember staring at her author photo in back of the book, transfixed by her. I've since read The Secret History and have now started her newest book.  Reviews of The Goldfinch have been popping up and every time I see a picture of her I have to stop. That blunt haircut, her somewhat masculine clothes, and her confident gaze- the word "badass" just comes to mind. I just love her and her style.

the first snow

I didn't want to miss the opportunity to take pictures of central park in the snow, so I braved the cold and went for a long and enjoyable walk around the park. I wasn't the only one with this idea, because there were a lot of people holding up their dslr's taking pictures of the same things, it was kind of funny. By the end of my walk my toes were numb and my nose was running, but I was glad I did it. Central Park, thanks for being my reliable muse.

touristy weekend

Thanksgiving couldn't come fast enough this year because my mom was coming into town. My mom and I have so much fun together, so having the whole city to explore together is a treat. Friday night we went and saw Catching Fire in IMAX because we read the books around the same time, saw the first movie together, and basically I couldn't wait any longer to see it. We loved it! The rest of the weekend consisted of wandering around the city and doing some touristy things I have yet to do.

^^the displays at abc carpet & home (not "touristy" but I wanted to include it)  and the giant christmas decorations on sixth avenue sure got me in the christmas spirit!

We also went and saw the play 'Jersey Boys' which follows the story of real-life band Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. I liked it! I had no idea how many recognizable songs this group has and now this has become my new favorite song.

lola nail polish

Since hearing about the launch of marc jacob's makeup line, I knew I had to see it in person next time I was in sephora (which was sooner rather than later since I live within walking distance to one- dangerous!). Surprisingly, I was immediately drawn to this bright red nail polish. The cute packaging and the beautiful color were just too much and I had to have it. After painting my nails and a few days wear, I can say that the polish not only goes on glossy, but wears really nicely.

While I usually get excited to bring out of my darker polishes for the colder months, I am loving this pop of cheery red against my winter wardrobe. It's a splurge regarding nail polishes, but if I am going to spend more money on a polish a classic red is a good choice in my opinion.
