natation synchronisee

How gorgeous are these photographs by french photographer Jean-Baptise Courtier? I love the juxtaposition of the natural landscape with the discipline of synchronized swimming. What an interesting idea that he executes beautifully.

donna tartt

I started reading The Goldfinch a few days ago and now I can't put it down. It's written by one of my favorite authors,  Donna Tartt, and I find her quite inspirational. Back in high school,  my mom told me I should read one of her favorite books, The Little Friend. I loved the book, but I also remember staring at her author photo in back of the book, transfixed by her. I've since read The Secret History and have now started her newest book.  Reviews of The Goldfinch have been popping up and every time I see a picture of her I have to stop. That blunt haircut, her somewhat masculine clothes, and her confident gaze- the word "badass" just comes to mind. I just love her and her style.

the first snow

I didn't want to miss the opportunity to take pictures of central park in the snow, so I braved the cold and went for a long and enjoyable walk around the park. I wasn't the only one with this idea, because there were a lot of people holding up their dslr's taking pictures of the same things, it was kind of funny. By the end of my walk my toes were numb and my nose was running, but I was glad I did it. Central Park, thanks for being my reliable muse.

touristy weekend

Thanksgiving couldn't come fast enough this year because my mom was coming into town. My mom and I have so much fun together, so having the whole city to explore together is a treat. Friday night we went and saw Catching Fire in IMAX because we read the books around the same time, saw the first movie together, and basically I couldn't wait any longer to see it. We loved it! The rest of the weekend consisted of wandering around the city and doing some touristy things I have yet to do.

^^the displays at abc carpet & home (not "touristy" but I wanted to include it)  and the giant christmas decorations on sixth avenue sure got me in the christmas spirit!

We also went and saw the play 'Jersey Boys' which follows the story of real-life band Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. I liked it! I had no idea how many recognizable songs this group has and now this has become my new favorite song.
