the gentlewoman + lea seydoux

The Gentlewoman is probably my favorite magazine at the moment. There are so many elements about it that draw me in. First, I love that it's a lady magazine that focuses on highlighting woman from all ages that are inspiring and interesting to read about. My other favorite thing about the magazine is purely sensory. The look and layout is so simple and pleasing to the eye, and the design and feel of the pages are both modern and retro, that it seems timeless. Some of the pages are reminiscent of old books and I get the feeling of being in a library and finding a book that grabs my attention and that quiet feeling of getting lost into something. This feeling of nostalgia, along with the fact that this issue had my ultimate 'girl crush' on the cover made me want to bring a copy home with me. Lea is so stunning. I am looking forward to see her newest movie Blue is the Warmest Color.

Niagara Falls

I took a "quick" weekend trip to Niagara Falls last weekend. It was already a rainy day, and coupled with the mist from the falls, I got completely soaked. I actually didn't mind. The experience was kind of invigorating. All the other parts of the experience were very touristy and cheesy but I guess that is to be expected. The falls were of course beautiful to see in person and I got to see a lot of northeast fall foliage on the way up there which made the journey worth it.

Fall Polish Picks

One of my favorite things about fall is the changing leaves and the warm, rich autumnal colors. So for
my manicures, I have been reaching for similar colors. I also tend to stick with those in-between colors that are not too dark- that's for winter, in my opinion, when there are more grey days and a lot less daylight (Oh why can't it be fall forever?).

On to the polishes. The deep red is Essie's Size Matters which was actually part of their winter 2011 collection. You could definitely argue this is more of a winter shade, as the color is close to a Christmas red, but I am loving this beautiful deep red color right now. My most recent purchase is Essie's Smokin Hot and I love it's dark gray, slight purplely color. I think it looks so chic. Essie's Lady Like is year-round color for me because it's understated, more muted, and looks put together. I like to wear this when I don't know what else to polish my nails. And now for a bit of shimmer, Butter London's Wallis and Orly's Rage are just the right amount of shimmer. They look so pretty in the sunlight. Wallis is a little out there for me but I have been reaching for it a lot recently.
